Command Modifiers Tab

The Command Modifiers Tab provides modifiers for the curve construction commands. Each command button on this tab has a name ending with "->", indicating that clicking on it is to be followed by clicking on a curve construction button found on another tab.

For example, if a Hugoniot has been drawn and then erased (using Erase), clicking the "Redraw ->" button on the Command Modifiers Tab followed by clicking the "Hugoniot" button on the Hugoniot Loci Tab executes the "Redraw Hugoniot" command, which redraws the erased Hugoniot.

Attributes (?)

Closest Point

Finds the point on the specified curve that is closest to the specified point. The specified point can be provided using the Input Mode at the Main Panel.

Extension

Plots the extension of the target curve.

Correspondence

Shows the left and right point at the target point . (Not working for secondary bifurcation ??)

Classification

  • Hugoniot curve
    - Classifies points in a Hugoniot curve by comparing the shock speed
with the left and right characteristic speeds.
    - Works by clicking and dragging or by clicking twice; the first click
selects the closest point on the Hugoniot curve, whereas the second
click specifies where to on the screen to write the classification.
    - Shows the shock type of the segment and the eigenvalue signs.
    - When the viscosity matrix is a multiple of the identity matrix,
      these signs are
        + $\lambda_1(U_-) - \sigma$
        + $\lambda_2(U_+) - \sigma$
        + $\lambda_1(U_-) - \sigma$
        + $\lambda_2(U_+) - \sigma$
    - Read more detailed documentation for when the viscosity matrix is
      more general viscosity matrix.
